United States and Qatar were the only counties where one can study Cloud Computing at the University. Now it is possible in Spain as well. The Design and Innovation University School (ESNE) has just presented the Univesity Degree in Cloud Computing Engineering and ubiquitous Computer studies. The objective is “making students ready to lead the next technological transformation”.
New studies will start teaching during next year 2013/2014. According ESNE Executive Director, Rafael Díaz, “going to the cloud we are talking about creating more than 1,5 wealth points in the European Union GDP”.
In fact, Cloud technologies potential as wealth facilitator is supported by several studies and reports. Forbes magazine issued in an article last year seven trends for Cloud Computing according several analysts. For example, Gartner advances personal Cloud to replace PC as the platform for individuals to enjoy his digital life; According Forrester, Cloud and Mobility tend to become one.
Another study, promoted by IDC and Microsoft, forecast about 14 million jobs to be generated all around the world on Cloud Computing applications and services between 2011 and 2015. At this point, one of the big challenges to be faced is the lack of talent, due to the shortage of training about these technologies. This initiative from ESNE comes to face this shortage in Spain.
New degree is going to bring students new professional opportunities, most of them in areas such as Design, Telco, Development and Administration. Their creators also remark the opportunity that Cloud Computing represents for small business in order to access to cutting edge technology and reinforce their value through the Cloud models adoption.
As a pure cloud service, MySaasPlace is congratulated with this initiative, and we wish a great success both to ESNE and their future students.
